Zoom Announces Feature That Mutes People Who Say “Can Everyone See My Screen?”

SAN JOSE — Zoom Video Communications announced breakthrough AI technology today that will automatically mute any participant who asks “Can everyone see my screen?” before anyone has time to respond.

“We analyzed four years of meeting transcripts and found this exact phrase precedes 89% of all workplace suffering,” explained Chief Technology Officer Brendan Ittelson. “The feature activates the second someone’s cursor hovers over the share button.”

The patent-pending system also detects and preemptively mutes related phrases including “Can you hear me now?”, “Sorry, I was on mute,” and “Let me just share my screen real quick” (which historically takes 11 minutes).

Advanced settings allow hosts to automatically end meetings when someone says “So yeah, I think that’s everything” followed by 30 more minutes of discussion, or when a participant begins a sentence with “Just to piggyback off what [name] said.”

Beta features include automatic calendar blocking for “meetings that could have been emails” and a “You’re Still Sharing Your Screen” alert that detects when someone has been broadcasting their desktop for 15 minutes after the meeting ended.

Early adopters report the feature has reduced meeting times by 40% and workplace despair by 73%. One Fortune 500 company claimed it prevented 847 instances of “Can you see it now?” in a single week.

The update also addresses the classic “unmute before speaking” problem by implementing what Zoom calls “Psychic Mute Detection” — though insiders admit it just assumes everyone is always muted and screaming into the void.

When asked about privacy concerns, Zoom assured users the AI only listens to meetings, reads facial expressions, monitors screen activity, and “barely even judges you for eating lunch on camera.”

At press time, someone had already scheduled a company-wide Zoom call to discuss the new Zoom features.
